Conversational Experience – Google Ads draws on AI to set up campaigns.


“Google Ads campaign setup is going to be easier than ever for Search Ads with Google’s natural language-based AI-powered ‘Conversational experience’ that will be tested starting July”, said Jerry Dischler, VP of Google Ads, during his Google Marketing Live keynote presentation in May, 2023.

What is “Conversational Experience”?

It is a tool in Google Ads where one can have a natural language conversation with the platform to create or generate keywords and assets that would drive better performance.

Highlights of “Conversational Experience”

  • Ability to talk directly with Google AI while creating campaigns

  • With just the input of a landing page URL, the assistive experience will generate a business description of the product or service which is editable.

  • Then, the AI starts creating elements for the campaign like keywords, headlines, descriptions and extensions (site links and callouts, for example)

  • Also, the model recommends images based on those available on the landing page along with some stock images relevant to the offering on the webpage.

The fascinating aspect is we can have a conversation in a message box with the AI on methods to improve the Ad.

The Conversational experience shares a bunch of ideas that includes headlines and descriptions fitting the character limits. If we feel that some benefits are missing in the Ad, we can ask the AI to share more options to choose from.

Introducing Generative AI

Later in 2023, Google Ads also plans to introduce generative AI to the automatically created assets like the one created above using “Conversational experience”.


This was the most incredible part of the presentation was that the Generative AI will automatically modify the headlines and descriptions created to match the search queries of the user while continuing to be true to the product or service offering.

For example, if a user searches for “skin care solutions for dry skin”, the generative AI will fine tune your headline as shown below to match the search query.
